The Museum of Paleontology, which is run by the Institute, has beautiful public exhibits, largely
unheard of outside of Moscow. Representing nearly every type of fossil organism imaginable, the
exhibits are particularly rich in Mongolian dinosaurs, synapsids (relatives of mammals) from the Perm region of Russia, and
Precambrian fossils, representing the dawn of life, from Siberia. I enjoyed my visit!
One explanation for the gigantic scale of pre-historic life. This site offers the information in 6 languages! The background on this site makes it hard to read, but may be of help.
From the Field Museum in Chicago, some sample activities geared to elementary level student including (at the time of this review), "Words from the past," "How big was that animal?," and "Prehistoric motion." Excellent bibliography sections plus resource listings for more activities, videotapes, etc.
